Kitaso

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Ronkatil BV (“we”, “us”, “Kitaso”) collects when you use the Kitaso application (the “App”) or visit kitaso.app (the “Website”), and what we do with it.

The short version: the App keeps your monitoring data on your own machine. It has no account and no cloud sync. The Website does not use analytics or tracking. The only personal data we handle is the minimum needed to answer your emails and sell you a license through our payment provider.

Who we are

The data controller for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

  • Ronkatil BV
  • Registration number (KvK): 96968176
  • VAT number: NL867854571B01
  • Email: [email protected]

If you have any question about this policy or your data, email [email protected].

The App collects no personal data

Kitaso is a native macOS application that monitors your Linux servers over SSH. It is built to keep your data on your own machine.

  • The App has no user account and no login.
  • The App shows no ads and contains no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
  • All configuration and all metric history are stored locally on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Kitaso. We never receive any of it.
  • Your SSH credentials, SSH keys, server hostnames, and collected metrics never leave your Mac except to connect to the servers you yourself configure.
  • The optional Kitaso daemon runs on your own server, using your own SSH credentials. It does not communicate with us.

We cannot see your servers, your credentials, or your monitoring data, because none of it is ever transmitted to us.

The App contacts our systems in only two situations:

  1. Update checks. The App checks for new versions by requesting our update feed (using the Sparkle framework). Like any web request, this involves your IP address and basic technical information such as your App version and macOS version. We do not enable Sparkle’s optional system-profile reporting. We do not use this information to identify you.
  2. License checks (paid licenses only). If you have purchased a license, the App activates and periodically re-validates it against our own licensing server, which we host ourselves in the European Union (not a third-party licensing service). These requests send only your license key and a randomly generated installation identifier. They contain no data about your servers.

The Website

When you visit kitaso.app, we keep the data we collect deliberately small.

Analytics. We don’t run any. The Website uses no analytics tools, no cookies, and no visitor tracking. Standard web-server access logs from our hosting provider may briefly record your IP address and request details for security and abuse prevention; we do not use them to profile or identify you.

Support and other email. If you email us, we keep your message and contact details so we can respond and keep a record of the conversation. We use Mailbox.org to host our email.

Purchases

We sell licenses through Paddle. Paddle.com Market Limited acts as the Merchant of Record for purchases made through the Website. This means Paddle, not us, is the seller of record and is responsible for processing your payment, collecting and remitting taxes, and handling billing.

When you buy a license, you provide your payment and billing details directly to Paddle. We never see or store your full payment-card details. From Paddle we receive limited order information, such as your name, email address, country, and the license issued, so that we can deliver your license and provide support. Paddle also keeps its own record of your email address and purchases under its privacy policy.

Paddle processes your data under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read: paddle.com/legal/privacy.

If you buy Kitaso through the Mac App Store, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details from Apple.

Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

We process personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to deliver and support a license you have purchased.
  • Legitimate interests — to operate and secure the Website and respond to your messages, in a way that does not override your rights.

Who we share data with

We share personal data only with the service providers (“processors”) that help us run Kitaso:

  • Paddle — payment processing and order management (as Merchant of Record).
  • Mailbox.org — email hosting.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it for third-party advertising.

International transfers

Some of our providers are located outside the European Economic Area (for example, in the United Kingdom). Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, it is protected by an appropriate safeguard such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep data

  • Support email: for as long as needed to handle your request and keep a reasonable record, then deleted.
  • Order records: for as long as required to provide support and meet our legal and tax obligations.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email [email protected].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

Children

Kitaso is a tool for developers and system operators. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available at kitaso.app, with the “Last updated” date at the top.
